Participation of OFSDP in the State level Annual Adivasi Mela-2012(26th Jan - 5th Feb, 2012 at Adivasi Exhibition Ground, Unit –VI, Bhubaneswar)

Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project (OFSDP), like the previous years, participated in State Level Annual Adivasi Mela -2012. The Project, this year, facilitated 88 Self Help Group/ Vana Surakshya Samitie members from 44 SHGs to participate in the Mela selected from 22 VSSs under Angul, Balliguda, Bonai, Deogarh, Jeypore, Keonjhar, Koraput, Parlakhemundi, Phulbani, Rayagada and Rourkela Divisional Management Units (DMUs).

The exhibition is attracting large number of urban population who are visiting the OFSDP stalls and showing keen interests in the SHGs products.  Till date 03.02.2012 a business of Rs. 5.75 lakh has been made over a period of 9 days by selling more than 50 types of NTFPs, farm and nonfarm based items. Huge demand for Hill brooms, Honey, Harida, Bahada, Aonla, Turmeric powder, Ragi powder, Jhuna, Bamboo crafts, herbal medicines, pulses etc is noticed.
