OFSDP Review by the Ministry of Environment and Forests

A review meeting on progress of various activities under  OFSDP was taken by the Ministry of Environment and Forests at Paryabharan Bhabwan, New Delhi on 18th June 2010. Review was attended IGF EAP, AIGF EAP, and other DIGFS from MoEF, and   Ms. Kakuta, and Mr. V. Sarin from JICA India, and Project Director Mr Arun K Bansal, and Joint Project Director  IME MR Debidutta Biswal from the Project.  Project Director Made a presentation on progress of works under different components, achievements and current status. Innovative approaches under the Project aiming at institutionalizing JFM & community mobilization, EPAs focus on Livelihood, making IGA demand driven, Community Based Eco-tourism, and Transparency were specially highlighted, which were appreciated. Expressing satisfaction on the implementation of the Project, IGF EAP expressed concern on the slow progress under Biodiversity Management, and Artificial Regeneration, and observed that at the forthcoming mid-tern review by JICA these aspects should be discussed and alternates worked out. Sustainability beyond the project period and creation of awakening through various means need also be looked into as also co-ordination with tourism department for promoting eco-tourism.
